Meet a Fighter: Laticia Gipson – Fueled by Love, Driven to Serve
Every cancer journey is unique—and for Laticia Gipson, surviving breast cancer became the spark that ignited a mission to serve others. As a fighter who faced the emotional, physical, and financial toll of a cancer diagnosis, Laticia chose not to be defined by her struggle, but to be empowered by it.
“When I was diagnosed, I realized very quickly that cancer doesn’t just affect your body—it impacts your entire life,” Laticia shares. “I experienced moments of fear and uncertainty, but I also found strength I didn’t know I had.”
During her fight, she recognized that many others were silently struggling—not just with their health, but with basic needs, transportation, support systems, and the overwhelming stress that comes with the unknown. It was in those moments that the vision for Lovie Helping Hand Cancer Foundation was born.
“This foundation is rooted in the Lovie I have to help others,” Laticia says. “Lovie means love in action. It’s compassion, understanding, and support when someone needs it the most.”
Today, Laticia is not just a survivor—she is a voice of hope, a leader in her community, and the heart behind a foundation that uplifts cancer fighters from all backgrounds. Whether it’s financial assistance, encouragement, or simply reminding someone that they are not alone, her mission is clear: to be the helping hand she once needed.
“I made it through my storm so I could be someone’s shelter. That’s what Lovie is all about.”
